My Essence

My path to counselling began with personal pain. At 17, I told my aunt I wanted to become a counsellor to help people heal—a calling born from my own struggles, one that has steadfastly guided my career.

I am Simangaliso Nyoni, founder and director of iMpande, which means 'root' in isiNdebele. This name honours my khulu, grandfather, Mpande David Nyoni, whose wisdom profoundly shaped my approach to creating a space where every woman can feel fully seen and supported, addressing a gap I deeply felt in my own experiences with counselling. At iMpande, each woman is the author of her journey. I use a variety of approaches—including narrative therapy, trauma-informed practices, emotion focused therapy (EFT), and person-centred strategies—to ensure tailored support. It's about giving space to your pain so you can move beyond it and fully experience life.

I invite you to share your wounds with me, and together, we'll illuminate the patterns that hold you back, forging a path towards healing. Healing is a deeply multi-layered journey, not a race. Let me walk alongside you towards wellness, restoration, and health. You've got this, and I've got you.

My Approach

At iMpande, I am dedicated to helping women of all generations heal from wounds that often transcend generations, empowering them to move forward with strength. Drawing inspiration from the wisdom of Mpande, a pivotal influence in my life, iMpande — meaning 'root' — symbolizes the growth and strength at the heart of my practice.

Here, I provide a nurturing space to address deep-seated issues, using holistic, eclectic, and decolonial approaches to foster healing and transformation. My commitment is to guide each woman through her healing journey, helping her acknowledge and heal generational wounds, and rediscover her inner strength.
